Outreach and events are an essential part of DWFI’s goal of attracting new advocates and partners, as well as engaging in two-way information sharing and networking with others in the water and food space. DWFI hosts several of its own successful conferences, projects and events throughout the year. The institute also supports other mission-related events by serving as invited speakers, hosting outreach booths, and engaging in conversations as conference participants.
Global Conference draws international audience to address water and food security
In May 2023, DWFI welcomed 425 participants from around the globe to its headquarters in Lincoln, Neb. for the tenth Water for Food Global Conference.
Engagement recovers to pre-pandemic levels
In FY23, DWFI directors and staff led discussions in several high-level meetings and events, as well as participated in numerous industry conferences.

The Nebraska Water Center hosted the Platte River Basin Conference in October 2022 in Kearney, Nebraska.
49th Annual Water Tour broadens knowledge about Nebraska water
The Nebraska Water Center (NWC) with Central Nebraska Public Power and Irrigation District (CNPPID) hosted the 49th annual Water and Natural Resources Tour in June 2023.
