Advocates for NU learn more about DWFI’s work at trustees event
In October 2022 during the Nebraska Water Center’s conference in Kearney, Neb., the University of Nebraska Foundation and DWFI organized a panel presentation for Foundation trustees from Central Nebraska. Trustees are valued advocates for the university's programs and institutes and those in attendance included business executives, education leaders and a Nebraska state senator.
DWFI Executive Director Peter McCornick shared a preview of the institute's work as it entered its second decade. Jesse Bell, DWFI director of water, climate and health, discussed research into the connection between agrichemicals in drinking water and adverse health outcomes for children in Nebraska. Nebraska Water Center staff shared about the growth and success of the Know Your Well program, which trains high school students to sample and test well water, preparing them for further education and careers in water science.
