Shared Resources
This site includes much of the information smallholder farmers or sector partners need to assess the feasibility for a shared-pivot project, as well as the steps needed and case study examples of how to implement a shared-pivot project. If you would like to add a case study or resources to the site, please email waterforfood@nebraska.edu.
Elements to success:
Community Mobilization: training that empowers farmers to take initiative to solve problems and work together with other community members.
Farm Management: environmental analysis including evaluating the water table and soil, agricultural and business training, organizing farmers into producer groups and producer villages that enable them to sell to larger markets.
Research: documenting program effectiveness, monitoring, and evaluating the program outcomes.
Commercial Facility and Equipment: building a cooling and storage facility, buying cleaning, sorting, grading, packaging, and labeling equipment.
