Pasquale Steduto

For more than 20 years, Pasquale Steduto has worked to improve agricultural water use efficiency and water productivity. His research interests are crop water requirements, crops’ yield response to water and associated modeling development under water-scarce conditions. Steduto has managed scientific and technical activities related to water development projects in southern Europe, northern Africa, Sub-Saharan Africa and the Near East in cooperation with the Consultative Group on International Agricultural Research (CGIAR).

Steduto has a doctorate in soil, plant and water relationships and a master’s degree in water science from the University of California, Davis. He serves on the advisory committee for the Stockholm International Water Institute’s World Water Week and the board of governors for the World Water Council. Steduto was the United Nations water chair in 2007-2009 and has served as a member of the Global Agenda Council for Water Security in the Global Economic Forum. He also coordinated the priority theme on water and food security for the sixth World Water Forum.
