Welcome to a new year!
2019 was a fantastic year at DWFI. With our faculty fellows, students and partners, we made measurable progress in our research to improve water and food security. Here are just a few highlights:
- Release of the Nebraska Water Productivity report, which charts Nebraska’s impressive progress in growing crops, raising livestock and producing bio-fuel with much less water than 30 years ago
- Working with students and partners in Rwanda to document irrigation business models, learning about successful strategies that can be scaled-up to other areas
- Supporting water quality research in Nebraska, helping find ways to prevent and mitigate groundwater and soil contamination from floods and fertilizers
- A successful global conference last April that drew hundreds of international experts to Lincoln, focusing on innovative approaches to water for food
But we couldn’t have done it without support from our many partners here and around the globe. We look forward to building on this momentum in 2020 — our 10th anniversary — and invite you to be a part of it. We also hope you will join us at our global conference October 7-9, 2020.
