Bio: Rebecca Carrillo (she/her) is an environmental policy specialist with expertise in water policy, environmental resilience, and sustainability. As a program coordinator, Rebecca works to develop Daugherty Water for Food Global Institute’s (DWFI) programs by analyzing water management policies and strengthening agricultural partnerships. She is particularly interested in working with local stakeholders and helping advance water conservation across the state of Nebraska and other regions. She has been affiliated with DWFI since August 2025.
Rebecca holds two master’s degrees in Environmental Studies and Law, and a graduate certificate in Energy Policy & Management from the University of Pennsylvania. She also holds a bachelor's degree in Environmental Science and Political Science from Clark University.
Responsibilities:
- Develop DWFI’s programs focusing on weather variability-related impacts on agricultural use in Nebraska, nationally and globally.
- Develop and strengthen partnerships with different groups of stakeholders in agriculture to understand the local context and build continuity and sustainability of activities.
- Conduct analysis and generate new knowledge about water management policies that could help advance farmers’ decision-making and be beneficial for water conservation.
- Collaborate internally with other units in the University of Nebraska system and external teams, partners, and stakeholders.
