Lexi Bodlak is a senior honors student at the University of Nebraska–Lincoln, studying agricultural and environmental sciences, communication, and environmental policy. She joined the Daugherty Water for Food Global Institute (DWFI) in August 2025 as an intern. She is primarily focusing on better understanding the legal details of agricultural water use across the U.S. while engaging with stakeholders to ensure that data is representative of unique circumstances. Lexi enjoys supporting other team members on projects that may be relevant to her future career in water and agricultural law.
She was previously a Clayton Yeutter Institute of International Trade and Finance Student Fellow and continues to be involved with the institute by assisting with their monthly communications. With the Yeutter Institute and DWFI, she traveled to Ghana to study the challenges of implementing pivot irrigation in Sub-Saharan Africa. Her broader experiences span policy analysis, lobbying and grassroots agricultural advocacy at the state, federal, and international levels- focusing on rural development, women’s empowerment, food security and poverty alleviation.
On campus, Lexi is chair of the ASUN Government Liaison Committee, mentors through the Nebraska Human Resource Institute, serves as a trail guide in the Engler Agribusiness Entrepreneurship Program introductory class and is involved in the Clifton Strengths Institute as a student strengths coach and Clifton Builder cohort member.
In her free time, Lexi enjoys volunteering at the Husker Pantry, visiting farmers' markets, helping on her family farm, cooking, running and reading.
