Professor
UNL International Trade and Finance
John Beghin is developing research and outreach programs with a focus on international agricultural trade and non-tariff barriers. His areas of interest include nontariff measures, trade and the environment, global food security, and policy analysis. He is currently developing a research project on gene-editing in agriculture and its interface with consumers' attitudes, innovations, adoption, regulatory framework and international trade. Gene editing is an important emerging tool to increase innovations in agriculture and food markets, with new attributes valued by consumers and producers, and addressing abiotic stress like droughts.
