Dr. Ivo Zution Gonçalves is an agronomist engineer from Brazil. He joined the Daugherty Water for Food Institute (DWFI) at the University of Nebraska–Lincoln (UNL) in June 2015 as a postdoctoral researcher and currently serves as a Research Assistant Professor. He is also a member of the Biological Systems Engineering (BSE) Department at UNL.
Dr. Gonçalves works with the Director of Research, Christopher Neale, on projects that integrate remote sensing, Geographic Information Systems, and Eddy Covariance flux tower measurements to advance water resources management, irrigation strategies, and crop modeling.
He has authored and co-authored approximately 50 peer-reviewed scientific publications, contributing to the fields of agricultural water management, evapotranspiration modeling, micrometeorology, and remote sensing applications in agriculture.
In addition to his research activities, he supports undergraduate and graduate students, as well as visiting scholars, contributing to mentorship, technical training, and international collaboration.
Before joining UNL, he worked as a postdoctoral researcher at the University of São Paulo (ESALQ), where he conducted research in remote sensing and agricultural meteorology.
Dr. Gonçalves holds a Ph.D. in Agricultural Engineering from the State University of Campinas (UNICAMP), Brazil, and a Master’s degree in Plant Production from the Federal University of Espírito Santo (UFES), Brazil.
