
Dr. Kelly Helm Smith is with the U.S. National Drought Mitigation Center, based at the University of Nebraska. Her research centers on using both qualitative and quantitative data to understand the impacts of drought. Dr. Smith is responsible for the Drought Impacts Toolkit, droughtimpacts.unl.edu, which is part of the U.S. Climate Resilience Toolkit. She also leads the effort to gather crowdsourced reports related to drought, Condition Monitoring Observer Reports, or "CMOR" for short, pronounced "see more" as in "see more drought" (online at go.unl.edu/cmor_drought).
