 Roberto Lenton is a renowned specialist in water resources and sustainable development with more than 40 years of international experience. He served as founding executive director of the Robert B. Daugherty Water for Food Global Institute at the University of Nebraska from 2012 to 2016.

Past roles include chair of the World Bank’s Inspection Panel, chair of the Technical Committee of the Global Water Partnership, senior advisor at Columbia University’s Earth Institute, director of the Sustainable Energy and Environment Division of the United Nations Development Programme in New York, director general of the International Water Management Institute in Sri Lanka and program officer in the Ford Foundation’s Rural Poverty and Resources program in New Delhi and New York. He was also an adjunct professor in the School of International and Public Affairs at Columbia University and assistant professor of civil and environmental engineering at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

Lenton holds a doctorate from MIT and a civil engineering degree from the University of Buenos Aires, Argentina.
