Kate Gibson

Program Coordinator II


Kate Gibson joined the Water for Food Global Institute in August 2016. She coordinates policy-focused programs, including making agricultural data more accessible to water resource managers, producers and researchers; developing national and international relationships to facilitate groundwater policy discussions, research and training; and recruiting and mentoring students.

Gibson’s expertise is in groundwater quality and quantity, as well as agricultural data analysis. She previously worked as a graduate research assistant in the University of Nebraska–Lincoln’s Department of Agronomy and Horticulture and as a groundwater geologist for the Nebraska Department of Environmental Quality.

Gibson holds a master’s degree in agronomy and bachelor’s degrees in both environmental restoration and water science, all from UNL.
